For The Mentally Disadvantaged
To qualify for this program a person has to have an IQ of 70 or below. This program gives cuts to employers that hire the handicapped. This program also exempts employers from having to pay minimum wage.
People from this program and welfare forced work reform programs, along with waitresses are all exempt from employers being required to pay them minimum wage.
The minimum wage law is a law that states it is for all people regardless of age, race, nationality, or handicap. The minimum wage law is broken. The mentally handicapped and forced labor programs pay sixty cents a hour or sixty dollars a month.
These programs are slave labor programs that exploit our mentally handicapped and socially disadvantaged citizens. America should be above slave labor programs.
There should be programs for the mentally handicapped, and socially disadvantaged, but it should be in areas of art, and computers I have seen those with learning disabilities learn quickly to use a computer, more quickly and sometimes better than a well educated person that has no disability.
Alone I? but a small voice, but, together as a great nation, we can speak out against slave labor programs that our fore fathers have fought do desperately against.
We can be the voice for our citizens that have no voice, and speak out for their equality. There was a time when I saw the mentally handicapped herded in as if they cattle into a factory where I worked. It was a tedious job and any person would get tired of long hours of standing.I could tell from looking at them that they were not able to express their thoughts.I could not imagine being a person that could make a difference. They touched my heart deeply, but yet at that time I remained passive.Again I came across the Arco programs work program. When I was with someone that picked up a mentally handicapped friend of member of my family who was also mentally handicapped. This member of my family was never in a program like this,my family would not allow it.The scene I saw was a hot outside workshop. The young man complained of the heat and the hard work, even though he was mentally handicapped,he was aware enough to voice to us his dislike of the situation.I found at that time that he only received $60.00 month/60 cents a hour for his labor and I was very upset. But again I remained passive.A land that has a min wage law that should be equal for everyone regardless of race, nationality,or disability and the law created by our government was not enforced. There was a exemption, which is a legal way for the government to break it's own law.Later I found from a Dr,I prefer not to name for his privacy, that you have to have a IQ of 70 or below to be in this program.Employers get a tax break for hiring them .While taking away jobs needed to support families of other min.wage law workers. This is a exploitations of our mentally handicapped citizens by our own government. To remain passive is to never see changes made to help others and correct a wrong. Unless people are aware that a change is needed, a change will not be made. This program is gift wrapped as a program that helps mentally disabled ,when in reality it is a slave labor program no better than those in China.Do we allow our mentally disabled citizens to be exploited in this matter? We should have programs for our mentally handicapped. There should be programs that give them a chance to use a computer,or expand their abilities in the area of art.We have limited our mentally disabled, believing they can be no more than physical work horses, when a person with a learning disability can at times be a genius in the areas of the arts, computers, and music.
