Any information on a Air NZ/Singapore Air pass?

  • I saw this listed on a website, but can't seem to find any further information:
    http://www.airtimetable.com/circle_pacific_airfares.htm

"Air New Zealand – Singapore: This is a mileage based fare with a maximum of 22,000 miles. A significant number of miles for this region and you are permitted to purchase additional miles in 1,500 mile increments if you exceed the original base mile allotment Some great itineraries around the Pacific Ocean are possible.

Sample 22,000 Itinerary: Los Angeles – Tahiti - Cook Islands – Auckland – Christchurch – Sydney – Singapore – Hong Kong – Taipei – Tokyo – Los Angeles

    Economy: $2,600 Business: $4,325 First Class: $5,900"

I am looking for someway to cost effectively do a dream trip from NYC-Tahiti-NZ-Bali---back to NYC.

Any other suggestions or details on other circle pacific passes?

    Thanks

  • I've seen that SQ/NZ fare listed in fare searches, though it really doesn't seem to be promoted heavily at all. It is separate from the Star Alliance Circle Pacific fares, though I think it has the same restriction of only West Coast of North America, so you'd still have to get from NYC to one of the Pacific gateway cities. A good travel agent should be able to tell you more.

  • The Singapore website lists some of the limited-carrier round the world products. Eg ex-NZ (http://www.singaporeair.com/saa/en_UK/content/local/NZ/promotions/RoundTheWorld/RoundTheWorldFares.jsp). Unfortunately the SQ website is currently down so I cant post the link for ex-US. But to get it, go to www.singaporeair.com select US as country and click on promotions (top right) - there should be a link for RTWs.

Each RTW product has its own limitations and advantages.

  • Hi Cruisinred

I have been out of the travel industry for a few months - but from what I remember of the Star Alliance Circle Pacific fare it only permits West Coast North America eg LAX/SFO/YVR so for what you wish to do you would need a separate NYC-LAX-NYC ticket then route

LAX (NZ) PPT (NZ) x/AKL (NZ/SQ) x/SIN (SQ) DPS (SQ) x/SIN (SQ ) LAX

I believe you need to make a minimum of three stops and there is a surcharge for using the nonstop SIN-LAX but not for the flight which transits through NRT

follow this link for more info

    http://www.staralliance.com/star_alliance/star/content/faq.html#StarAllianceCirclePacificFare

    hope this helps :D

  • I think you'll need to do a round the world. Could be a Star Alliance round the world, or a joint Singapore/Air New Zealand/Virgin Atlantic round the world, or many other combinations are also possible.

I suggest you post in the Star Alliance forum (and SQ forum in case of the SQ/NZ/VS round the world). Plenty of helpful folk who can work out the best options for you. To give the best advice, it would help if you could say what class of travel you want/can afford, and what frequent flyer program you will be crediting to.
